Channel 4 films TV Book Club
The Fermain Valley Hotel Terrace was the ideal setting when Channel 4 was filming its summer series of TV Book Club. The 10 members sat down to discuss the novel Ellis Island by Kate Kerrigan which was then filmed by Cactus TV Cameraman, James Cook. With perfect weather conditions the crew had chance to film the surrounding scenery, including the west coast and Castle Cornet which will be used to introduce the program.
The show will be aired on More4 on the evening of Sunday 1st August and on Channel 4 the following afternoon.
Host of the British Irish Council 2010
The Fermain Valley Hotel was the proud host of the British Irish Council 2010 on 25th June 2010.
This twice annual meeting involves the eight British Council members from the governments of Ireland, the United Kingdom, three of the four countries of the UK (Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and three British Crown dependencies: Guernsey, the Isle of Man and Jersey.
Fermain - "Excellent Bathing Water"!
Test results under the EU Bathing Water Directive revealed that Fermain Bay enjoys the highest rating for the quality of its bathing water. 7 other Guernsey beaches were also ranked as "excellent" out of 13 graded.
Comprehensive tests were carried out over a 5 month period last year and published results showed a marked increase on the previous tests carried out in 2008.
So Guernsey is a great place to enjoy clean swimming waters and if you stay at the Fermain Valley you are minutes away from the bay below!
