Mental Health Awareness at The Fermain Valley Hotel

There is a public and self-stigma attached to mental health issues which we as an island and as a hotel want to banish, by promoting open dialogue and sharing of feelings.

There is nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to mental health issues, sometimes you just don’t feel yourself and that is ok.

Mental health problems affect people differently, it can affect the way we think, sleep, eat and how we feel physically as well as emotionally. It can be crippling and sometimes people may feel helpless.

You are not alone! 1 in 2 people suffer from mental illness at some point in their life and it can come from anything or nothing. Life traumas/abuse, biological factors, family history of mental health problems or you may simply have a chemical imbalance in your brain.

It’s important to make sure you take time for yourself to breathe, talk, do things you love, see people you love and never feel ashamed.
There are so many groups and communities on the island who can help with your future and wellbeing. We all struggle from time to time and being able to say ‘I am not ok’ is ok.

The library is a sanctuary for stillness and being calm, allowing you the opportunity to grab your favourite book and immerse in some much needed “you” time.

The gardens are there for everyone to enjoy, take the time to practice yoga or simply meditate surrounded by the Valley’s natural beauty.
